Representatives of RADIUS and Green KAIT met with Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH (aws) in Vienna to discuss shared interests around innovation, startup support, AI development, and sustainability. The visit highlighted how public funding institutions, applied research, and entrepreneurship initiatives can work together to support future-oriented projects.
Aws has been a long-standing partner of FH JOANNEUM. Through initiatives such as KAIT and Green KAIT, aws regularly supports founders and early-stage ideas with guidance, coaching, and funding opportunities. The exchange in Vienna therefore built on an existing partnership while opening space for new joint activities.
The visit also connected the conversation around startups and sustainability with the goals of RADIUS. FH JOANNEUM positions the project as an opportunity for companies to develop AI models and systems together with the university in a professional research setting, from early concepts through to implementation and practical deployment.
Another key theme was the broader importance of data and AI for companies, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. Organisations still underestimate the value of the data they already generate and the innovation potential that can emerge from it. It also should be stressed that awareness of AI, entrepreneurship, and data-driven opportunities should begin early, ideally already in schools.
Overall, the visit shows how RADIUS is embedded in a larger support network that includes funding institutions, startup initiatives, research partners, and sustainability-focused innovation programs. It underlines the role of collaboration in turning AI ideas into concrete projects with practical value.
